I loved this book. It had everything I love in a romantic comedy. The background is a small place with a close-knit community in rural England. The main characters are in a difficult position at the beginning of the story, but later they realise they deserve better. In fact, they deserve each other. They both are very loveable characters. I loved the other people who appear in the story as well. Not to mention the dog!I also enjoyed the language and the style - it was really well written. I was sorry when I finished this book and will look out for the author's other works. As I was looking for something fun and uplifting to read, I naturally looked at books by Jules Wake, who is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors with her Christmas and travelogue novels. But a Girl’s Best Friend didn’t fit into either category, so I was tempted to pass it up. So glad I didn’t! Great characters, great story structure, and also fun and uplifting. You don’t have to love dogs to love this book.
